Variable Frequency Drive

An electronic device used to regulate the speed and torque of an electric motor is a variable frequency drive (VFD), often referred to as a variable speed drive (VSD) or an adjustable frequency drive (AFD). It controls the motor's output voltage and frequency, enabling variable speed and fine control of the rotational speed. VFDs are frequently utilised in industrial applications to improve process efficiency, energy efficiency, and motor soft starting and stopping. VFDs are an essential part of contemporary motor control systems because they help minimise energy consumption, improve system performance, and extend the life of the motor by regulating the motor's speed in accordance with the load requirements.
